When creating a healthy environment for ourselves and family it is so important to have a cautious cleaning attitude and use cleaners safely.
Listed below are a few basic tips to keep in mind when cleaning our homes.
Basic Tip #1
When choosing an all-purpose cleaner don’t buy products that have anti-bacterial agents, such as dimethyl benzyl ammonium chloride. They may actually create forms of bacteria that are harder to kill plus the food and drug administration states they’re no better at preventing the spread of germs.
“In fact, some data suggest that antibacterial ingredients may do more harm than good over the long-term.” Food and Drug Administration.
You can read the final ruling on anti-bacterial agents from the Food and Drug Administration here.
Basic Tip #2
Ammonia is good for cutting grease but is extremely dangerous if inhaled or splashed into the eyes. Dawn dish detergent is a great grease cutter and so is Awesome, both are great alternatives to ammonia.
Basic Tip #3
Some window cleaners have ammonia in them which doesn’t clean any better than a vinegar and water solution. Ajax dish detergent mixed in water is also a great glass and window cleaner!
